Your stem cells serve as part of your body’s self-repair system. Bone marrow stem cells have the ability to transform themselves into specialized cells to make new bone, muscles, blood vessels, nerve endings, and skin.
With advances in medical research, physicians are just starting to tap into the potential powers of stem cells for medical treatment. Dr. Fuller is an innovative and knowledgeable physician leading the way by offering stem cell therapy as a treatment for many pain conditions.
Stem cell therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that utilizes stem cells for the regeneration of tissue and organs to repair or replace diseased or damaged tissue. When injected directly into your tissue, the stem cells are known to accelerate your body’s natural healing process, repair damaged tissues, and alleviate your symptoms.
Dr. Fuller is a regenerative medicine specialist and determines if you’re a good candidate for stem cell therapy during a consultation. As a very new area of medicine, the treatment options for stem cell therapy continue to grow.
Dr. Fuller conducts your stem cell procedures at his office surgical suite. He begins by first harvesting stem cells from the bone marrow in the back of your hip. He then centrifuges your stem cells to concentrate them for your injection.
Once ready, he injects your stem cells using ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance to ensure proper placement of the stem cells. After your injection, you should be able to resume your usual activities, unless Dr. Fuller directs otherwise.
While you may notice an improvement in your symptoms within a week of your stem cell injection, it may take more than one treatment and up to a month for you to see the final results.
Stem cell therapy is an innovative treatment that uses your body’s own healing powers to improve health and function and reduce pain. To schedule an appointment at Mountain Spine & Pain Physicians, call the office or book online today.
